- The bare minimumIn Dating & Relationships·April 2, 2024"Men were sending love letters in the middle of wars and you're settling for boys who won't text back, don't have time for your, and think reassuring you is too much work. The bar is hell." I saw a post similar to this on instagram. And I wholeheartedly agree. Some of us, settle for the bare minimum in relationships. The question is why? Is it low self esteem? A lot of people will blame it on low self esteem, but I think it is so much bigger than low self esteem. I think it's combination of low self esteem, "lack mentality", and societal pressure. I think this topic requires a longer blog post. 🤔1521
- Saw this on InstagramIn General Discussion·March 14, 2024This really resonated with me. I'm totally overwhelmed with work, husband, kids, and trying to be a good sister, daughter, aunt, niece, grand daughter it's all too much. Mom guilt is real. Wife guilt is real. I feel like I'm not doing enough. Like I should be doing so much more for my family. But there's only so many hours in a day. I'm just one person. I feel like I'm drowning.217

I hope you're all doing well and feeling empowered today. Today, I wanted to open up a discussion about a topic that affects most of us: body image and the pressure to conform to unrealistic standards. In a world inundated with edited photos, airbrushed magazine covers, and the constant comparison game on social media, it's no wonder many women struggle with self-acceptance and body positivity. We are bombarded with images that portray a narrow definition of beauty, leaving many of us feeling inadequate or dissatisfied with our own bodies. So, my question to you is this: How do you personally cultivate a positive body image and embrace self-love in the face of these societal pressures? Do you have any tips or strategies you've found helpful in overcoming negative self-talk and embracing your uniqueness? How do you celebrate your body's strength and appreciate its beauty, regardless of society's expectations? Please feel free to share your experiences, advice, and personal stories. - Ladies: Any hockey fans out there? In General Discussion·March 17, 2024Hartford Wolf Pack First Time at a Hockey Game: A Total Surprise! Hey everyone! So, I did something a little out of the ordinary today. I like sports well enough, but my knowledge has mainly stuck to the sidelines (pun intended) of football, basketball, and soccer – you know, the sports my kids play. Hockey? Never really watched it. Well, that all changed today! I went to my first-ever hockey game, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride. It's Like Nothing I've Ever Seen It's hard to describe hockey. It's this crazy mix of sports – the speed from soccer, the physicality WWE wrestling (minus the chairs), and the gliding grace of figure skating. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was definitely entertained. The Excitement is Real The game itself was intense! There were so many close calls, with the crowd gasping every time the home team came close to scoring. It felt like there were more "almost" goals than actual ones, but that just kept the energy high. Fights? Bring 'Em On! And let's not forget the fights! Yes, there were actually three brawls during the game. The refs were quick to break them up, but it definitely added a whole new layer of "physical" to the sport. Would I Go Again? Absolutely! Honestly, I had a blast. Hockey is a surprisingly exciting and fast-paced sport. Plus, it's a great way to experience something totally different. Girls Night Out Anyone? I think a hockey would be an awesome idea for a girls' night out! Forget the usual dinner and drinks, grab some snacks and head to the rink. Even if you're not sure you'll love the sport, it's an experience you won't forget. (Oh and I saw quite a bit of eye candy at the game....just saying....) So Ladies, What Do You Think? Have any of you been to a hockey game? Would you be up for giving it a try? Let's hear your thoughts in the comments below!125

- The Art of Patience: A Lunchtime LessonIn General Discussion·March 22, 2024“Patience is when you’re supposed to get mad, but you choose to understand.” —Anonymous Let's face it, sometimes we all crave that perfect sandwich, and sometimes that craving hits during the worst possible time: Friday lunch rush. That's exactly what happened to me this week. My stomach was rumbling, my local sandwich shop was calling my name, and I naively ventured in, knowing full well the chaos that likely awaited. As expected, the scene was pure pandemonium. A long line snaked through the shop, easily 20 people deep. Online orders kept pinging in, adding to the pressure. The staff, a mix of seasoned veterans and clear newbies, were hustling to keep up. The newbies, bless their hearts, were still finding their rhythm, while the veterans moved with the practiced efficiency that comes from countless lunch rushes conquered. The Impatience Monster Reared Its Head As the wait stretched on, I could feel the tension rising in the air. Sighs of frustration grew louder, punctuated by the occasional impatient glance at watches and phones. Murmurs of discontent began to spread. In that moment, my heart went out to the staff. They were clearly doing their absolute best under the circumstances, and the new employees were still learning the ropes. A Beacon of Calm in the Storm Finally, my turn arrived. I placed my order, thanked the cashier (a young man who seemed a little overwhelmed), and genuinely complimented him on his hard work. While I waited, an older gentleman entered the shop and inquired about his online order. The young cashier, looking slightly flustered, checked with the online order station and relayed a 15-20 minute wait time. The gentleman's response? A simple, "No problem. I understand, it's lunch rush. I'm not in a hurry." His calm acceptance was a breath of fresh air. The Power of Patience and Kindness Then came the plot twist (and not the good kind). The person managing online orders, clearly within earshot, launched into a tirade. She publicly berated the young cashier, accusing him of fabricating the wait time. The entire shop fell silent, stunned by this display of unprofessionalism. The Gentleman Steps In The gentleman intervened, his voice still calm and courteous. He assured the manager that he was perfectly happy to wait, praised the cashier for his service, and politely requested that she refrain from yelling. The effect was immediate. The tension dissipated, replaced by a wave of understanding and even a touch of sympathy. The Takeaway: A Little Goes a Long Way This encounter was a powerful lesson in patience and empathy. The gentleman's grace under pressure not only diffused a tense situation but also reminded everyone in the shop of the importance of human kindness. It's a simple reminder: a little patience and a sprinkle of understanding can go a long way, especially in the midst of a busy lunch rush (or any stressful situation, for that matter). So next time you find yourself caught in a similar situation, take a deep breath, and remember the power of patience. You might just be surprised at the positive impact it has on yourself and everyone around you. xoxo, Aunty Bri126
